Cosmo

Cosmo - 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord

This is a portrait of my friend Mari's cat.  I saw some of the photos she had taken of him and decided that I had to paint him, he has such a beautiful coat.  This is a little bit more finished than usual, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I recently dug out an old SLR camera that we have (by old I mean about 15 years old -- by technology standards, that's pretty old.)  Several people said that my iPhone could take better photos, so I left it in its place.  However, even though it is far inferior to more current cameras, I have found that it takes better photos than my iPhone.

So I've learned the basics and started to shoot some of the wildlife that comes into our backyard.  It's mostly Canadian Geese, but I have seen cranes, herons, and a whole host of other birds and animals.  This goose liked it so much here that it decided to stay for a while and have a rest.

Not to leave any of our cats out, here is the third of three of my own pet portraits.  I did one each of the other two recently -- you can see them on my Daily Paintworks gallery.  This one is in one of her favorite poses :)

What can I say...  more lipstick!  It's something I have readily available and I like painting the smooth metal sheaths contrasted with the waxy lipstick.  Even though I have done several, it's always a challenge.
