Generations

Generations - 6 x 6 Oil on Canvas Board
Sold

This one was done for the weekly DPW challenge: "Yellow".  I have thread from my husband's grandmother, from my mom and some that I bought, so I have a collection of just about every color ever made, as well as from three generations.  I like the contrast between old and new spools, and I love the big old wooden ones.  This was a great exercise in not only getting the shades of yellow right, but also in getting the highlights, reflections and shadows of the thread to look somewhat accurate.

  1. I love this for so many reasons not the least of which is the generations of memories that contributed to it. The yellows are great...cool, warm, bright and subdued...I just love it.
